How To Make A Podcast

Making a podcast for www.harrypotterpodcast.net has never been easier.

Step One: The first thing you have to do is make sure you've downloaded a copy of 'Audacity' which is free on the internet. This program enables you to record your stories or songs or anything you want to put onto a 'Harry Potter' podcast. Please feel free to contact me if you get stuck, and I will do my best to help you in any way I can. You will also have to make sure that you have a good quality mic, and speakers.

Step Two: Once you have downloaded 'Audacity' you will need to find a story (making sure that it's NOT a mature rating) and if it's someone else's, you will have to ask for permission first before you record it.

Step Three: Record the story. As I'm still quite new to the workings of 'Audacity' I can only tell you to record something in one go, because I don't know how to put recordings together. However, I'm sure if you looked at the programme, it would explain everything you need to know. I just record a story in one go, because I find it easier, but each to their own. Once again, need any help? Feel free to owl post and I'll try the best I can.

Step Four: Once you have recorded your story, you go to the top menu in the left hand corner, and you'll see a dropdown menu. There will be a place to click called 'Extract file as mp3.' Click on this, and then a box will come up in the middle of the screen. It will list a section such as 'Name Of Artist', 'Song' and so on. As you're recording a story, please put the name of the author in the 'Artist' section and just type in the name of your fic. For example: In the first box, I put 'What is the point of Chickens' for mine. Once you've extracted the file, you need to get it to us. The easiest method is to host it on a free file site such as
filefront.

Step Five: Before you hosting on filefront, you will need to either register with the site, or log in. Once you've logged in, you go to 'Upload File' which will be on the left hand side menu of your personal page, with your username listed above it. Once you've uploaded the file, you will see a page with listings. If you want to check your file, select 'Download file.' Wait a few seconds, and then open the file. Listen to it in any music player to check that what you've done is right. (I use Windows Media Player.) Once you've done it, you must send the link to Jay or AlexG2490 via Owl post, and if they accept it, they will host the file for you. Wallah!!!! You're done.

Kind regards,

Henry Fischer`s Enchanted Mailbox
With the Horcruxes finally destroyed, Harry, Ron, and Hermione can finally let their families and friends know what has been going on, where they disappeared to, and what they have been doing. But it's too dangerous to send owls, so they start sending their letters to the mailbox at Order Headquarters, Number 12, Grimmauld Place. Unfortunately, due to some kind of mixup, the letters arrive at Number 11, where muggle Henry Fischer finds them along with his electric bill.

News.

Along with the reconstruction of the site, I have re-coded all our podcasts to make them a smaller file size. This will mean much faster downloading for you and less space taken up on your MP3 player.

At present we are reconstructing this page, so over the course of the next week or so, some of the links will be offline while we work on them, but ALL story links are working.
